Risk factors
There are a range of factors that may put someone at higher risk of developing an eating disorder, however the way that risk factors interact and affect individuals vary.
Risk factors can include:  
- having a close relative with an eating disorder or a mental health condition
 - having a history of dieting
 - type 1 diabetes
 - perfectionism and inflexibility with ways of behaving
 - history of an anxiety disorder
 - dissatisfaction with body image
 - being teased or bullied
 - limited social support 
 
Causes
Eating Disorders are not caused by one factor but may involve a variety of factors.
These factors can include:
- genetics
 - biological
 - psychological factors including personality traits
 - emotional health
 - experiences of trauma
 - cultural and social influences
