The Christmas season can be particularly challenging for individuals with eating disorders. The focus on food and social gatherings can increase anxiety and distress. Here are some common effects:

  • Increased Anxiety: The abundance of food and social expectations can heighten anxiety and stress for those with eating disorders
  • Routine Disruption: Changes in routine and the emphasis on indulgence can be overwhelming
  • Social Pressure: Comments about food and body image during gatherings can be triggering

Recovery Reconnect: 2 week eating disorder skill building group

The purpose of this group program is to assist in the continuation towards recovery. The aim is for you to reconnect with yourself, life and increase meaning and purpose and strengthening your healthy self. Treatment is focused on learning new ways to cope, with opportunities to practice managing emotions, thoughts and behaviours. Through rediscovering who you are beyond your eating habits, weight, and body image and finding the joy in life again.

Our community-based service will operate uninterrupted over the holiday period, ensuring seamless support for patients transitioning from inpatient care or requiring home-based care. If you’re unsure about the process or how to refer, please contact us at 1800 119 118 for assistance.

Day Programs

We will continue to accept and monitor referrals throughout the festive season. Please continue to send your referrals as normal and we'll book patients into the next available group. New intakes and refreshed programs will be available in the new year, including:

  • Persistent Pain Management: A multidisciplinary program facilitated by a Pain Specialist, Psychologist, and Exercise Physiologist.
  • PTSD Program: A CBT-based trauma program focusing on psychoeducation and stabilisation, supporting the initial stages of PTSD treatment.
  • Trauma Skills for Veterans & Emergency Services: Tailored support for these groups.

These programs also provide an excellent pathway for early access to a Psychiatrist.
