Professional background
Carmen is a psychologist with a broad range of skills and experience. She obtained her undergraduate psychology qualifications in South Africa, before completing the remainder of her qualifications to obtain her General Registration in Australia in 2016. She has worked in a range of contexts and settings and with a diverse range of clients. Carmen works with individuals, groups, young people and adults. She is passionate about psychology, mental health, and the importance of well-being in life. She has supported clients with varying mental health presentations, personal issues, work-related matters, and complex trauma. She believes in carrying many tools in her psychology tool belt and draws on a variety of therapeutic approaches, including CBT, Person Centered, Strengths Based and Solution Focused. She also enjoys delivering psycho-education sessions with clients to assist them with normalizing their experiences and being kind to themselves.
Carmen is looking forward to working with Patients at Deakin Private and supporting the opening of our new PTSD & Trauma Support Unit for Military & First Responders.
