Professional Background
Dr Chaston Wu graduated from The University of Newcastle Australia and has worked in psychiatry for over 9 years. He has a broad experience across public and private hospital settings in New South Wales, Western Australia, and Queensland.
Born in Australia, Dr Wu spent much of his childhood overseas before completing high school in Brisbane, developing adaptability and a deep appreciation for diverse cultures. This has shaped his ability to connect with people from a wide range of backgrounds and social contexts. He is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.
Dr Wu is passionate about holistic, patient-centred care that values understanding, compassion, and collaboration. His approach integrates evidence-based biological, psychological, and social interventions.
Dr Wu has a strong interest in psychotherapy and is experienced in managing a wide range of mental health conditions. He is particularly passionate about medication-assisted therapies, such as ketamine, and is currently completing therapist training through Monash University.
Outside of work, he enjoys painting, martial arts (Brazilian jiu-jitsu and Muay Thai), fitness, yoga and motorcycle riding. His choice to pursue psychiatry was driven by a deep curiosity to understand the human mind, emotions, consciousness, and relationships.
