Dr Gillian Sanzone

Dr Gillian Sanzone is a consultant psychiatrist at South Coast Private Hospital. Dr Sanzone graduated from the University of Newcastle with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Medical Science. She was awarded NSW Institute of Psychiatry Fellowships in both 2011 and 2012 and completed her advanced training in the area of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

She became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Psychiatrists in 2012 and is a member of the Child and Adolescent Faculty of the Royal Australian New Zealand College of Psychiatry and has worked as a Staff Specialist and Visiting Medical Officer for NSW Health since 2012 where she has worked in both outpatient and inpatient settings as well as providing consultation liaison support.

Dr Sanzone is an honorary lecturer with the UOW Graduate School of Medicine. She teaches and supervises medical students and psychiatry registrars and also provides clinical supervision to health professionals. Dr Sanzone has experience in a number of therapies and her approach is informed by attachment, family, cognitive, dialectic and psychodynamic models of therapy. 

Her approach is to provide comprehensive assessments and individualised tailored treatment. Dr Sanzone has expertise to work with adolescents and adults who experience difficulties with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, mood and anxiety disorders, trauma and interpersonal difficulties. Dr Sanzone works individually with patients and also with families.
