Professor Nagesh Pai

Dr Nagesh Pai is a consultant psychiatrist at South Coast Private Hospital. Having completed his Basic Training in Medicine and his residency in Psychiatry as the Best outgoing student at the Prestigious National Institute (NIMHANS) in India he pursued his career in Clinical Psychiatry and in Academia. 

In 2001 he was promoted as Full Professor and Head of Psychiatry and led the postgraduate Training in Psychiatry. He was appointed as Foundation Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Wollongong at the inception of Medical School and has continued to teach and engage in Research in Psychopharmacology.

In 2016 he was awarded International Distinguished Fellow of American Psychiatric Association. He has several leadership roles in RANZCP including Military, Veterans and Emergency Psychiatry Network, Training and Assessment of Internationally Qualified Psychiatrists and Chair of Faculty Adult Psychiatry, NSW. He is currently a Senior Consultant Psychiatrist at Illawarra Older Persons Community Mental Health Service and has admitting rights to South Coast Private Hospital.

He has won several Research Grants, and was awarded outstanding Medical Research award, Best Researcher Award, Above and Beyond Award for his support and mentor Researchers. He has been a member of editorial board of several scientific journals in Psychiatry and member of scientific sections of Schizophrenia and Psychiatric Education of World Psychiatric Association Professor Pai has admitting rights to South Coast Private hospital and sees outpatients in his private rooms on Market Street.
