Dr Tanveer Ahmed

Dr Tanveer Ahmed is the Medical Director of Kellyville Private Hospital.

He is a general adult psychiatrist with over twenty years of experience. He sees patients aged between 16 and 70 across the spectrum of mental health diagnoses, including mood disorders, addiction, ADHD and personality disorders. He trained across New South Wales after gaining his medical degree from the University of Sydney. He conducts an eclectic practice bringing together the fields of neuroscience, psychoanalysis and behaviourism. Apart from Kellyville, he works in the public hospital system. He also assesses civil and criminal clients for court and compensation related matters.

As the Medical Director he brings a host of leadership and strategic experience. He was the national representative for junior doctors within the Australian Medical Association (AMA), as well as being an appointee to the Board of the AMA. He was an appointee for the Australian Multicultural Council, the Advertising Standards Board and a former Governor of the Smith Family. He served on local government as a councillor for the City of Canada Bay from 2012-2017. He was also once chosen by a Prime Minister's Commitee as one of a hundred future leaders of Australia.

He is a writer having written three books and held columnist positions at the Sydney Morning Herald, the Australian and, most recently, the Australian Financial Review. His books include Fragile Nation chronicling the cultural rise of mental health and In Defence of Shame. He appears regularly across national media including being the regular mental health expert on Channel 7's Sunrise and Nine Radio (2GB, 3AW) outlets.
