Professional background
Dr Vinod Chopra is a Specialist Adult Psychiatrist and a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. He trained in India and has been working as a consultant psychiatrist in Australia since 2003, with experience across public and private sectors in New Zealand, Queensland, Victoria, Tasmania, and the ACT.
Fluent in English, Hindi, and Punjabi, Dr Chopra has worked with diverse communities, including Indigenous Australians, and has published numerous research papers in international journals while contributing to a Psychiatric Peer Review Group.
Dr Chopra works across the full spectrum of psychiatry, with a particular focus on resistant mood disorders, including resistant depression and resistant bipolar disorders. He is accredited to provide Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS).
Known for his practical, problem-solving approach, Dr Chopra tailors treatment plans to each patient’s unique needs, ensuring care is realistic, sustainable, and grounded in the patient’s lived experience.
