Professional background
Lauren Gow is a registered psychologist with a strong interest and extensive experience in trauma, particularly supporting the psychological wellbeing of emergency service workers. She previously worked within a government organisation for 11 years, bringing a wealth of knowledge and a strong commitment to understanding human behaviour and how trauma affects people.
Lauren uses evidence-based therapeutic modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (TF-CBT) Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She tailors the treatment to the individuals' needs by collaboratively setting and progressing towards their therapeutic goals. Her work has focused on assisting clients experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, moral injury, burnout and the ongoing effects of exposure to traumatic incidents. Lauren’s approach is practical, compassionate, empathetic and tailored to the individual’s needs.
Lauren is one of the day program group facilitators and currently facilitates the Trauma Skills and Trauma Processing day programs. When she is not at work, Lauren enjoys spending time with her family, travelling Australia and overseas, reading, watching TV, listening to podcasts, reformer Pilates, running, swimming and being outside.
