Gold Coast GP Mental Health Masterclass July 2025

On behalf of Aurora Healthcare, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all the GPs, specialists, and healthcare professionals who attended the Gold Coast Mental Health GP Masterclass on Saturday, 19 July 2025 at The Mondrian, Burleigh Heads.

This event was proudly hosted by Currumbin Clinic and Robina Private Hospital, two of Aurora’s leading mental health facilities on the Gold Coast. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Heidi Smith, CEO of Robina Private Hospital, and Benjamin Uprichard, CEO of Currumbin Clinic, for their leadership and support in making this event possible.

A Day of Insightful Learning and Collaboration

The masterclass featured a dynamic program of interactive case-based panels, practical workshops, and specialist-led discussions. Our goal was to provide GPs with relevant, evidence-based tools to support their patients across a range of complex mental health presentations.

Key topics included:

• Eating Disorders: Navigating adult anorexia and adolescent binge eating, led by Dr Vinay Garbharran, Dr Kim Hurst, Melissa Marks, and Rachel Ivey.
• Demystifying Mental Health Admissions: Clarifying referral pathways and patient profiles with insights from hospital CEO's Heidi Smith and Benjamin Uprichard.
• Functional Outcomes in Major Depressive Disorder: Presented by Dr Natasha Feingold.
• Young Adult Mental Health: Case-based learning with Dr Haritha Devineni.
• DBT in the 15-Minute Consult: Practical strategies from Jenna Laroque.
• Addiction Recovery and PTSD: Featuring Dr Bilal Raza, Dr Lisa Shelley, and Dr Paxie Olm, including application of the Phoenix Australia Guidelines.

We also introduced some of our newest specialists from Robina Private Hospital and Currumbin Clinic, showcasing their expertise and commitment to integrated care.
