Aurora Healthcare is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace. 

Our aim is to eliminate conditions and incidents that could result in an injury or illness. We also acknowledge that all of our activities must conform to relevant state and federal legislation and establish practices that are in line with Australian standards. 

Aurora Healthcare will provide appropriate supervision and training in the identification, assessment and control of hazards in the workplace to all of its staff, contractors, subcontractors and relevant stakeholders. 

Effective and successful management of health and safety in the workplace relies on commitment, consultation and cooperation of staff. 

Aurora Healthcare is committed to consulting with all staff to understand their need for health and safety, in order to make the workplace safer and to fulfil our responsibilities and duties. 

Aurora Healthcare expects that all staff, contractors, subcontractors and relevant stakeholders comply with our work health and safety policies, procedures and guidelines, and conduct themselves in a safe manner at all times that does not place themselves and others at risk. Members of staff have responsibilities for the health and safety of their coworkers. 

Aurora Healthcare is also responsible for the provision of a safe and healthy environment for its visitors and to the public at large who come in contact with the business premises and are affected by our activities. Contractors must also conduct their activities in a manner that ensures the safety, health and welfare of others. 

To achieve a sustainable change for the better, Aurora Healthcare will work closely with all of its staff to find solutions to making sure that our workplace is a better place to be. 

 

Safety at our hospitals and clinics 

As part of our quality framework, we regularly measure and benchmark our hospital patient outcomes against a range of 'Clinical Indicators'. 

These include but are not limited to the following measurements. 

  • Infection Rate (Staph Aureus Bacteraemia or SAB) 
  • Clostridium Difficile (C Diff) 
  • Hand Hygiene 
  • Pressure Injuries 
  • Patient Falls 
  • Unplanned Re-Admissions
