Professional background
Dr Mariska Stuurstraat is a Rehabilitation Medicine Physician as an accredited Fellow of the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine through the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. Dr Stuurstraat completed her Doctor of Medicine at the University of New South Wales before moving to the Sunshine Coast to work as a junior doctor. During her specialist training in Rehabilitation Medicine, she has worked at various private and tertiary public healthcare facilities in South-East Queensland, including Eden Private Hospital, the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, and the brain and spinal cord injury sub-specialty units at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. She has gained experience in complex Rehabilitation cares, with an interest in neurological conditions, including stroke, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and procedural skills such as Botulinum toxin injections for spasticity management. Dr Stuurstraat is compassionate and patient-centred, working with her clients to help improve function, achieve meaningful goals and enhance quality of life.
