Professional background
Mitchell is a registered Psychologist with a Master of Clinical Psychology. His approach to therapy is that of curiosity and warmth with a deep understanding that collaboration and a strong therapeutic alliance can lead to authentic and meaningful change. He provides an open and patient space to work together with aims to increase self-awareness and insight by exploring relationships, including the therapeutic relationship, and recognising patterns within thoughts, feelings and behaviours to reach lasting change.
Mitchell has experience working with individuals in both short and long-term one-on-one therapy, as well as providing psychological services within a corrections and medical hospital setting. His approach to therapy is person-centred and draws from a diverse range of evidence-based therapeutic frameworks including Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness-Based therapies.
