Professional background
Dr Akshay Bapat is a haematologist with fellowship of both the RACP and the RCPA. He consults at South Eastern Private Hospital on Mondays, and also holds appointments at Alfred Health, Monash Health, Holmesglen Private Hospital, and Mulgrave Private Hospital.
He graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2013 and completed his specialist training through Northern Health, the Royal Hobart Hospital, Alfred Health, and Monash Health.
He then undertook a clinical trials fellowship at the Alfred, with a focus on lymphoma and cellular therapies. As part of this he has been an investigator on dozens of clinical trials developing novel treatments for patients with blood cancers.
Dr Bapat manages a variety of malignant and non-malignant haematological disorders, including lymphoma, myeloma, leukaemia, thrombosis, bleeding disorders, and cytopenias. He is committed to high quality, evidence-based practice and compassionate patient-centred care. When not at work he enjoys hiking, reading, and watching the mighty Essendon Bombers.
