One of the investments Aurora Healthcare has made is having a dedicated person to coordinate locum opportunities directly with Psychiatrists.
In many ways, I perform a similar role to an agency, helping coordinate opportunities, travel, accommodation, credentialing, and introductions to services. The difference is that more of the investment can go directly to the Psychiatrist providing the care.
I can certainly see the value of locum agencies, particularly for larger public health services that may not have the time or resources available to facilitate these arrangements themselves.
For us, it's also about building relationships, creating flexibility, and ensuring a more personalised experience for the Psychiatrists who choose to work with us.
When you locum directly with Aurora, there is no middleman. You deal directly with someone who knows the hospital, understands the service, has a relationship with the CEO, and can provide accurate information about what to expect before you arrive.
It also allows us to build genuine relationships over time.
Many of the locums we work with today have supported multiple Aurora hospitals over several years. Some have gone on to establish permanent private practices with us, while others continue to enjoy the flexibility and variety that locum work provides. Either way, the relationship doesn't end when the placement does.
Of course, recruitment agencies play an important role in healthcare, and we work with many excellent partners. However, when Psychiatrists choose to work directly with us, it often creates a more flexible, transparent, and rewarding experience for everyone involved.
In healthcare, relationships matter.
And some of the best partnerships start with a simple conversation.
That's why we'll continue investing in direct relationships with the Psychiatrists who support our hospitals and our patients.
If you would like to be added to the Aurora Healthcare locum pool, or simply learn more about future opportunities, I'd love to hear from you.
